  • Scope: Modernization of 10 low-flood streetcars

Requirements

  • Existing car control units including drive technology were replaced with non-safety-related technology as part of a refit.
  • The safety functions of the existing system had to be replicated or other suitable measures had to be taken to maintain the overall safety level.
  • The commissioning permit in accordance with BOStrab had to be processed and obtained again.

Implementation

  • Concept development of a safety control system that implements the safety functions according to VDV 161 and monitors/prevents further hazards due to the new technology.
  • System and software development according to SIL 3 with assessment.
  • Safety management, risk evaluation, development of safety measures, safety verification with external assessment.
  • Development of regression test specifications for future software changes to the non-safety-related control system.
