CBTC Integration in Local Transport Systems

Planning the integration of CBTC systems for high-frequency urban rail systems (metros, light rail)
Preparation of feasibility studies and profitability calculations (efficiency and capacity increases vs. costs)
Analysis of the current technical condition of the vehicles and the scope and content of the existing documentation
Preparation of retrofit concepts and implementation of vehicle engineering
Procurement of components (CBTC on-board computers, radios, sensors and displays)
Supervision of the conversion and monitoring of the tests for integration into the synchronized overall system
Handling the approval processes (preparation of certificates and supervision of official approvals and certifications)

National Systems

Evaluation of the requirements based on the planned use case of the vehicle.
Analysis of the legal and technical requirements for the retrofitting of systems such as PZB, KVB, etc.
Development of technical concepts for the integration of a new train protection system
Engineering as part of the retrofit (circuit diagrams, integration of computers and antennas, modification of control elements in the cab)
Support for the conversion through our workshop partners
Launch and system tests
Processing the commissioning authorization as part of the conversion of existing vehicles

ETCS Integration in Vehicles without Central Vehicle Control System (TCMS)

Analysis of the current state of end-of-life vehicles and creation of an integration concept (based on more than 20 years of experience in the integration of vehicles in the DACH region)
Realization of the whole ETCS integration project including concept, engineering, component procurement, support of the conversion in partner workshops as well as verification and recovery of the authorization for placing into service
Interface management with the vehicle operator, the OBU supplier, the workshop, the assessment centers and the authorization authorities
Execution of engineering (electrics, mechanics, safety management)
Development and delivery of vehicle-specific interface technology at electrical or fieldbus level (e.g. CAN, MVB, Ethernet)
Organization and support of the modifications in our partner workshops
Handling authorization for ETCS refits in projects with single and multi-country vehicles

ETCS Integration in Vehicles with Centralized Vehicle Management System (TCMS)

The starting point for successful ETCS integration, including regaining commissioning approval, is the availability of suitable technical documentation for engineering, configuration management and verification management
Analysis of the current status of the vehicles and coordination of the integration concepts with the vehicle manufacturer regarding the sources and documentation of the central vehicle control system/vehicle control technology (TCMS)
If access to the source codes of the TCMS is not possible: development of operationally equivalent replacement solutions
If access to the source codes of the TCMS is possible: creation of an integration concept for the implementation of specific interfaces between ETCS and TCMS/diagnostics
Adaptation of the operating logic, definition of suitable operating modes for the use of ETCS in conjunction with the central vehicle control system (TCMS), optimization of diagnostics, (one-off) central train data input possible
Extension of the software of the central vehicle control system to support ETCS, preparation of software expertise, proof of non-interference
Organization of retrofitting in coordination with the train control suppliers and the vehicle manufacturer (TCMS software)
